RSI (Relative Strength Index)

Definition

A gauge from 0 to 100 that compares the size of a market's recent up moves with its recent down moves.

The story

If a market has had mostly big up days lately, RSI climbs toward 100. Mostly big down days, it sinks toward 0. It's a speedometer for how hard a market has been pushed in one direction.

Why you'll see it

Reports cite it when a market has moved far, fast.
