Privacy

Short version: we collect almost nothing, and we never sell it.

  1. 1

    What this site collects

theretest.com has no accounts, no forms, no advertising and no tracking cookies.

Like any website, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, to run and secure the site.

We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, from our hosting provider. It records which pages are viewed, the referring site, your device type, browser and operating system, and an approximate location (country, region and city). It doesn't use third-party cookies or collect anything that identifies you: visits are counted using a temporary code, created from the request, that is discarded after 24 hours.

  2. 2

    Subscriptions and the Brief

When you subscribe to The Retest Brief or join its chat, you do that on Substack. Substack holds your email and subscription details under its own privacy policy.

We use your email only to send the Brief and related updates. We never sell or share it.

  3. 3

    Social media

If you follow or message us on X, Threads, Instagram, TikTok or YouTube, that platform's privacy policy applies.

  4. 4
