Your first week with The Retest

Starter: New to the markets. The basics of money, in the order they build on each other.

Five steps, about 10 minutes a day.

  1. Day 1

    How money moves

Start with chapter 1 of How money works, "Maya gets paid": where money comes from and why interest rates matter, in about 4 minutes. Then read the first five words in the Starter list: interest rate, compound interest, inflation, CPI (Consumer Price Index) and the Fed.

    Start chapter 1 →
  2. Day 2

    Read one Brief

Open today's Brief and turn on "Explain terms" at the top. Underlined words open a short definition. Pick one word you didn't know and read its full entry.

    Read today's Brief →
  3. Day 3

    Where it touches your money

Read four words: credit score, mortgage rates, high-yield savings and 401(k). Each one shows how the same interest rates from day 1 reach your own accounts.

    Starter terms 21 to 33 →
  4. Day 4

    One word, in depth

Read the full entry for CPI (Consumer Price Index): what it measures, a real example, and why markets watch it. It's the number behind most inflation headlines.

    Read about CPI →
  5. Day 5

    See it really happen

Look at one real day: Oct 14, 2026. Inflation came in hotter than expected. See what the Nasdaq, the S&P 500 and gold did that day.

See it in Historical Data →
