Definition
A candle where the open and the close are nearly the same, so the body is tiny or just a line: a standoff between buyers and sellers for that period.
The story
Price may have swung up and down during the period, but it ended almost exactly where it began. A doji alone doesn't say which way price goes next; traders look at where it shows up, for example after a long run up or at a key level.
Why you'll see it
It's one of the most widely recognized single-candle shapes.
