Trading journal

Definition

A record of each trade: why it was taken, where it got in and out, how it turned out, and how it felt at the time.

The story

Memory of past trades can be selective. A journal shows patterns you can't see trade by trade, like losing more on Monday mornings, or doing worse after big wins. Some traders set a regular time, such as once a week, to review it.

Why markets watch it

It turns experience into something you can actually learn from.
