Definition
A price level where a rising market has tended to stall or turn back.
The story
The ceiling to support's floor. If a stock has climbed to $50 three times and fallen back each time, $50 becomes resistance in many traders' eyes. Coverage will note when a market is "running into resistance."
Why you'll see it
Reports point to resistance when a rally reaches a level it couldn't clear before.
