E-mini Nasdaq-100 (NQ)

Definition

A futures contract that tracks the Nasdaq-100, traded on CME (Chicago Mercantile Exchange) nearly around the clock.

The story

NQ is the tech-heavy sibling of ES (E-mini S&P 500 futures). On rate news it often moves further than ES, because the companies inside it are more sensitive to rates, so the gap between the two can tell you how much of a move is about rates.

Why markets watch it

It shows how tech-heavy stocks are reacting, day and night.
